Passing EMC Certification
Everything with a clock has to pass FCC Part 15 or its local equivalent. The most probable causes of failure are:
- Grounding issues
- Clock harmonics
- Noisy power supplies
- PCB layout
- Filtering
- Shielding
- Cabling
While most everybody knows the list of common issues, the hard part is determining which is dominant in your situation. There is no substitute for bench experience in this area. Our strategy is to go for the source. The closer to root cause you can get, the fewer filters and shields you need, giving you the lowest cost solution.
